Math
Multiplication is a huge component of the fourth grade math curriculum. During this first quarter, students will complete a timed multiplication drill to ensure that they know their multiplication facts. We will have practice drills (0-12) everyday this week for students to brush up on their facts and for them to get acclimated to what these timed drills will be like. I highly recommend that you have your child practice his/her multiplication facts at home. Beginning next week, these drills will be counted as a classwork grade. Supplies Please make sure your child comes to school with at least the following items as we will be using them everyday. 4 spiral notebooks (each one labeled for the following subjects: Math, Reading, Social Studies) 1 composition notebook (labeled as Writing) 2 folders (one labeled for homework, the other for classwork) 1+ red pen 1 pair of scissors 1 glue stick (I have given out a glue stick for all students who don't have them on 9/5 although having a second glue stick would not hurt) Reading Students are expected to read at least 30 minutes a day and to complete our daily reading log for homework. We will begin our weekly reading story starting next week followed by our weekly reading test the same Friday. Students will also be given a list of spelling words later this week with the test following next Friday.
